Abstract

Since English as an academic subject was introduced into curriculum of elementary schools in Korea, in 1997, teachers have made ardent efforts to improve students' English abilities. As students' learning styles are different and changing, curriculum models and pedagogical techniques must also change to keep up with the new Net-generation. This report provides an underlying rationale for the use of blogs to improve writing skills and practical unit plans using blog activities, including student handouts and rubrics for Korean 6th graders. The author has developed sample lesson plans using three different approaches for integrating blogs into the elementary school classroom: teacher-managed blog, group-oriented blogs, and individual-constructed blogs.
