Abstract

This report sought to explore existing research in the area of interactive videodiscs at the early childhood level. A review of literature is presented in the area of computers at the early childhood level and interactive videodisc systems design and implementation. The author designed an interactive videodisc system using The Jungle Book videodisc to teach Spatial relationships referred to as The Jungle Book program. A small study was done with 3 children in a pre first grade summer program. A high ability male Hispanic student, a medium ability Vietnamese student and a low ability female Hispanic student were examined during the use of The Jungle Book program. The results of a yes/no attitudinal questionnaire suggest that interactive videodisc system have a positive impact on early childhood students.
