Abstract

As technology drives today?s workforce, that same technology has permeated the way we train and educate companies? personnel. Texas Educational Consultative Services, Inc (TECS) has identified the need to incorporate technology into the professional development of its employees because of the perceived benefits to both the learner and to the organization. The significance of this evaluative study is that it will provide managers at TECS with an initial look at the effectiveness of using online training compared to traditional training such as instructor-led training or studying reference manuals. The purpose of this report is two-fold. The first is to provide a detailed description of a multimedia training program developed to address the training and staff development needs of employees and possibly, in the future, clients. The second purpose is report on the results of field testing this multimedia courseware with company employees. The pilot study will help the company to make decisions about the direction in which the training department is headed for using technology to train employees, and eventually external clients.
